#Replaced a1286 logic board but os wont load how to#
Thanks a ton N6 for the reply.I was trying to get someone to respond on the apple forum for many months but none did.I did the headphone test as you suggested, directly on the interface & the crackling is right there & very annoying as it's now stuck on my face! I tried the Imac's headphone out & there was actually no crackling sound except some slight static noises when moving the mouse around.I doubt if the issue is with Logic as I get the same noises on the Presonus DAW.I tried this interface with a couple of other Macs & there was no noise detected. As for home wiring/grounding issues to check on that I took my set up to a friend's studio & found the same crackling noises coming out of my interface.I haven't experimented much with other firewire interfaces.I think I have the latest version of Logic (please tell me how to update).I purchased it last Dec & remember doing an update once.As for the Imac ,it is updated to the latest. Sure enough, plugged my iMac into it and voila: no more noise! They make them for some reason, right?! a solution that a Guitar Center employee said wouldn't work ("they're a joke," he said). After buying and returning a myriad of pieces of equipment to try and solve my problem, I took a last leap of faith in a HumX plug filter. I tried your solution, james230, and purchased an APC back-up, but it didn't solve my problem for some reason.
Every time my firewire was connected from my iMac to my Firestudio interface, the studio speakers picked up every digital move my iMac made - programs loading and closing, mouse-clicking, mouse-moving, etc. I can't express the joy I felt when I stumbled upon this thread as I had the same exact problem: I am not alone! I just purchased a supercharged iMac for recording with Logic Pro, a Presonus Firestudio Project interface and two (2) Yamaha HS-50M studio monitors with a HS-10M subwoofer.
